What a wonderful day we had at the farm. So glad Sauvie's Island has organic farm options. We picked blueberries, fed the goats, and went on a Cow train ride. You know it's fun, when your toddler talks about it a day later!

Honestly, the organic, non-GMO clover seeds have been among the best of the seeds that were sprinkled on the lawn early this year! Also used, Chia, Wheat Grass, Alfalfa, and the Nasturtiums came back this year! These little ones are eating pears from the pear tree. We pruned the trees last year, and this year, with the cool summer, and a few hot spurts, we came out with pears perfect for them to hold, and the right size for them to enjoy as a whole food. No need for cutting or puréeing here. Mmmm... I have to admit, there's nothing like warm soup on a cold day! Recently, on one of our frozen Portland Ice kingdom days(lol), I knew the time was right. We needed soup. We don't have this particular type very often, so I was amazed at how the children delighted in the lunch. I will share my ingredients with you. They are really simple: Dried split peas Italian seasoning Garlic Sea salt Peas and carrots With fresh pineapple and whole grain crackers. Prepared with love! Please let me know how it turns out! We were all surprised how much they ate. ☺ I can't believe how lovely these pictures are. They truly capture the joy and wonder that I remember feeling as a child with the bubbles. I can't believe that it has been almost 2 years since we opened! And now we are moving towards the dreams of our preschool. We are ready for the adventure as it makes its twists and turns of growth, development, and discovery. Off we go! It is obvious that they have been growing all along. But it's so exciting to see them! Take a look. We found beets, strawberries, and cucumbers! At first, I thought the beets were radicchios. That was a funny moment. The children were enthralled, and we spent a long time observing them, and talking about their care. I think the thing I loved most, was that all do the children took time to water the plants. It was really sweet. Seriously, I watch with anticipation as the color starts to show through the outer petals of this flower. I wonder, is this a painful process for the flower? It looks a little stressful because of the tightness of the outer green leaves. I am reminded about how butterfly's have to press out of their cocoons allowing their delicate wings to have the necessary fluid in their tiny veins to fly! Oh the joy of a bloom. With patience, time, nurturing...there is gratitude for the process. This was today's moment of gratitude for me. Just thought I'd share. Our field trip to the fire station was perfect. The children were able to see the fire trucks. They loved climbing inside, and on the outside too! They sang the Fire Truck song and even asked questions about the gear that they saw the firefighters wearing. Oh, and the large city map was a real hit! To top it all off, they had lunch on the amazing green lawn of the fire station. Good times!
