Today the children will be having a new addition to our regular vegetable noodle soup. Can anyone identify this veggie? It adds a nice soft and somewhat soulful flavor. There are lots of benefits from what this website says... http://www.nutrition-and-you.com/okra.html Ok, I guess the link gave it away! What better way to start off 2013 with newness! Do you have any great ideas that you would like to share for the new year? I have a proposal that I want to invite you to. Stay posted, details coming in the next few days. Just wanted to say, everyone loved the okra from what I could see! They ate so well today.
:-) I'm looking forward to hearing about your new ventures and visions for the next 12 months. Happy New Yours! Yum! Brussel sprouts are on the menu for lunch today. As a young child they were my favorite vegetable. They still are today. I love when she makes them. They are such a cute little veggie too! I personally recommend cooking them like this: Cut them in half. Heat up a cast iron and add some coconut oil. Cook the brussel sprouts and add a little water to speed it up. Sprinkle with lots of garlic powder, some salt and pepper. Cook until soft and a little crunchy. Eat it all up. :) - Kate (infant teacher) By the way...today we discovered that the correct spelling is Brussels sprout. Cool right?
I am realizing that resolutions have this very predictable way of drifting off silently into the night - never to be seen again. I have seen this happen year after year on many occasions. So, this year I am going to do it differently. And I invite you to join me as well.
Instead of resolutions, I will make resolves. Funny way to say it right:-). So here is my first resolve of the year that I am sharing with you... I resolve to stop at fresh blooming flowers and enjoy their beauty at least twice a week. This may happen while on a walk with the little ones or while I am at the local grocery store. But I will take the time to do this with intentions of adoration. Do you have a resolve that you would like to share? Looking out the window, I see rain and grey. But then I notice the window art...
Love. It makes me think about the lense that we look at life through. It still intrigues me that two people can be looking at the same thing and have different understandings. I think this applies to children as well. This is partially why it is so important for each child to be treated as an individual. I also want to send my love to the families in our community who have lost loved ones today in Clackamas. There is a lot of love coming your way, even though skies may be grey. It's time to do an overhaul. We are cleaning every inch of every inch. Including cleaning the rugs.
What fun. There are many things that I am grateful for. What makes us able to appreciate or vice versa? IDK. One thing I know - there is much to say about what I am personally thankful for. Yet, I cannot emphasize enough the wonderful people that I have met on my life journey. Thank you for being the unique person that you are! ;-).
I don't think it's the uniqueness of each character. Neither is it the sounds of those familiar 26. Could it be the endless potential to make words...
Although I may be influenced by all of the above factors... I think the biggest factor was our relationship. Yes, I actually remember meeting these letters in my early childhood days! I can't tell you about the first time that we met, because I'm not sure, but I can tell you that many of my early memories are of smiles, joy, interest, touching, making, coloring, painting, singing, and embracing my ABC's. Of course we are still good friends. That will never change. What are your favorite ABC memories? |
