Water is so necessary for life. Today this little one came over and said, "Water please." As I watched her drink her filtered water. I began to think about water. Some of you may know about my fascination with water. We all know that drinking water is essential. But did you know that of all the water on the planet (326 million cubic miles), we can only drink 3 tenths of a percent of it??? This is fascinating to me. Our planet has interesting systems that seem to be so sustainable at times. . Just makes me thirsty! And with that I leave you with a little water play before I take a drink.
I think we're around 5 inches tall!
So, I have been watering them because I don't want the clay to dry out. We put them outside yesterday over night. Brrrr.... I can't believe this is a winter crop that grows in the snow! We also began our garden box with the wheat berries today stay tuned for updates. Let us know if you decide to try this method. That's right. 8 yards of tree goodness. Ready to make our garden for next year amazing and nutrient rich!
It's like our own small ecosystem! It's been 3 days. The sprouts have been busy doing their sprouts thing. I think the sprouting action comes from the seed DNA??? Not sure. Something to look into. ;-). I'm sure they will be bigger tomorrow.
Let's see if this works...
Wheat berries planted in clay. I have heard that wheat grass is a winter crop and grows much better as a crop in the cold and even in the snow. I guess we shall see! What are your favorite winter crops? Here is how Kiss Kiss got his name...
When Kiss Kiss came to Flouriche, we needed to prepare a nice space for him. Together with the children, we placed rocks in the tank and gave him fresh spring water. When everything was just right, we put him in his new tank. With bright inquisitive gaze the children peered into the tank to get a closer look. And immediately, the young toddlers began blowing kisses!!! So sweet! Thus, we named him Kiss Kiss. I will show you one of his favorite things to do one of these days... But a brief introduction will suffice for now. Until next time! Remember Bam Bam?? I just wanted to share a fun moment from our day.
Today one of our children came in dressed as Bam Bam from the Flintstones. This caused me to think about that show and how much I watched it when I was young. I remember hearing the feet of Fred driving his car. Then I said... "Those were the most sustainable cars!" We had a moment of laughter and smiles. What sustainable memories do you have? Do you remember this guy and his village of friends?
I found out that Mr. Happy came from a series called Mr. Men. I think it's interesting to note that the first character - Mr. Tickle - was inspired by the authors son who asked him what a tickle looked like. What questions do your children ask? |
